Pentlands Book Festival is two weeks of lively events with something for everyone. It takes place in various venues in the communities along the Water of Leith.

The festival is organised by a volunteer group of local enthusiasts, in conjunction with Edinburgh Libraries and is part of Book Week Scotland.

Colinton & Merchiston Choir will be holding their Winter Concert on Sunday 26th November at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall, Merchiston Castle School.

Colinton Literary Society ("The Lit") holds weekly talks on varied topics (literary and general interest) at 7.30pm for 8pm in Dreghorn Loan Hall, most Wednesdays October to March.

Colinton Local History Society hosts regular talks on a variety of history-based topics on Mondays (usually first and third Mondays of the month) at 8pm from October to March in Dreghorn Loan Hall.

Colinton Garden Club holds regular meetings from September to April, usually the fourth Monday of the month, in Dreghorn Loan Hall at 8pm. As well as an update of the club activities, there is a talk by an expert, followed by tea or coffee.
